Permitted or not it’s still practiced in Islamic society. It’s not permitted where I live, either, sameer, but it still goes on. Unlike Islamic theocracies, though, we admit there is a problem and try to correct it, rather than lie about it.

I have never engaged in this activity nor will I ever, but I see no reason why this activity between two consenting adults should be illegal. By all means, this should be legalized.
I’m as moral as the next guy or as immoral as the next. But prostitution should be legal; it should be in brothels so it is respectable. NO street prostitution. We actually create criminal empires by making such act as prostitution illegal. It also creates an environment where the weak are abused. Our laws add to the problem. I disagree with the use of the photo montage showing “one woman’s descent to hell”. It is not the actual prostitution that causes the physical changes and lesions, but use of drugs and contracted diseases. There are many upscale prostitutes that look a million dollars.
So you’re saying that you shouldn’t get busted if someone offers you illegal drugs and you still go ahead and purchase them? The law is based upon knowledge. If you knowingly commit an offence, ie engaging in illegal activity then you should be held responsible.

Prostitution should just be legalized, end of story. It would ferret out the criminal aspect, and provide for the health and welfare of the sex worker. The argument for heroin and kiddie porn is not applicable; heroin’s cost to its users, even if it were legal, is horrendous; kiddie porn, like pedophilia, regards those not of legal age to consent. IF under legal prostitution sex workers had to be of consentual age with simultanious efforts to assist many out of that life, it would be great.
