Can 16 year olds walk around the red light district?

In my college essay im writing about the horrors of human trafficking and incorporating about my experience when I went to the red light district. Is it even legal to walk around that area when Im 16? I’m pretty sure its fine just to walk around but I just want to make sure… since I dont want colleges rejecting me because i did something illegal!! Is this topic also appropriate? The question is for the topic “an issue I care about”, and its a topic that I really do care about but im afraid some might find that talking about prostitution/trafficking is inappropriate. What do you think? Thanks!
A good rule for admissions essays is to play it safe and avoid topics which may offend an admission officer or create in the admission officer’s mind an undesirable impression of the writer.
