I am from Iran. I was hoping to go to dubai and start a new life there but some friends warned me not to do that. they said I was likely to end up being forced into prostitution. I can’t stand having to have sex to get a job or so. but is dubai really that dangerous for women? is it a red-light district?
Shoo????
Look, Dubai is safe and clean, without crime and poverty.
I don’ t understand this thing that womens should have sex for lives in Dubai! That’ s not true and now I tell you why. I tell you something about how have a job in Dubai for a women :
The normal working week in Dubai is eight hours a day, five days a week. During the Ramadan, this is reduced to six hours a day, although many companies are applicable only to them, this reduction of Muslim personell. The day of rest in Muslim countries and Fridays, so most of the companies that operate five days to take a week on Thursday or Saturday, as the other day outside. If you are working in an international company, it is likely that Saturday will be your second day, as this allows better synchronization some work days with the other parts of the world.
WHOMENS WHO WORKS IN DUBAI
The number of womens wich working in Dubai has increased in recent years, due, at least in part, for expatriates coming to work in the UAE. Women are generally treated with respect in the workplace and sexual harassment is not a problem because of the severity with which it is treated. Western women, however, should be sensitive to their behavior towards Arab men in the workplace, in order to avoid their friendliness be interpreted as over-familiarity. The majority of female expatriates are employed in service industries and have recently been added that Arab women have moved into these areas from the more traditional women’s professions nursing and teaching.
THE CONTRACT
When acceptance of an offer of a job in Dubai, you should receive a formal contract by your employer, wich setting out the working conditions, salary to be paid and the benefits that the employee can expect to receive, in addition to his salary for example as a contribution for housing, cars or kids’ education. The employment contract must also establish the conditions for termination of the contract by both parties (employer or employee). The contracts can have an end date, or may be left open. If the end date is specified, the contract may be renewed at the end with the agreement of both parties.
Sorry if I made mistakes of grammar, but I think that you can understand
Regards!
Dubai is not a red light district. It is an emirate where you see a confluence of cultures.
It is however, the largest meat market in the middle east. Baby, if you offer yourself to be skinned and slaughtered, they will hang you upside down and flog every part of your body for a few dollars.
However, these are tough times to get a job. Sometimes, discretion is the better part of valour
dubai is as safe as any where else in the world . i can say better then most other places.
Im sure that source of these informations comes from people that have never visited Dubai.
Hi, the information you have very wrong. Dubai is the only Islamic Nation which is just like USA, There is no rectrictions. No one can force you for prostitution there, as the laws are very strict there in Dubai. The laws in Dubai respect the women and favouable to them. It a total lie as it a red light district.
I was so many times in Dubai and lived there also. If you have a perfect Visa and work permit then no one can force you and no one can touch you there. belive me this is truth. If you are raedy for prostitution then only you can do other wise no force can make you to do that.
I go to Dubai and most of UAE each year after 6 months. Have lived there for 4 years and trust me your friends arent right. There are places like Jumeirah, Al Nakhal etc where decent families live. Dont worry honey. You should avoid going to places like Meena Bazar ( a bazar in burj) and Satwa. There is prostitution their. Alot, I must say. Mostly, Indians or people from Philippines are involved. Dont worry. Ask someone who lives their. They will tell you what it really is like. Not that bad at all. But yeah, Dubai will get a lil’ boring after a year or so.
Hope I helped.
Dubai isn’t a red light district but prostitution exists. It is also true that some girls (mostly Russians) are lured by “agents” into the country. These girls are promised jobs in the Middle East and some end up in the UAE, others are sold to Israel, etc.
Your main concern should be NOT to get into any situation which makes you an easy target for human trafficers. Therefore you have to look for a suitable job online. Send your cv to recruitment agencies in the UAE, get shortlisted and hopefully hired. The better your education the better your chances. Next step is to negotiate a salary on which you can live a decent life.
When in the UAE, get registered with your Embassy and ask for the Iranian community. Please do NOT come here on a tourist visa and let males you don’t know, know that you are desperatly looking for a job. That’s the situation these trafficers take advantage of. Also be carefull if you ever receive an offer which sounds to good to be true.
If you use common sense and start your job search right from the beginning, you may enjoy Dubai and the rest of the UAE as long as you make enough money. To many foreigners come here with to high expectations and wake up the hard way.
It’s sad but true that crime in on the rise in Dubai and the UAE in general. Also when Dubai’s crime rate is low compared to other big western city, it exits and can’t be denied. Human trafficing is mostly done by a girl’s own country men because they know her situation. Please be aware of this.
If you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to email me. Let me know your profession and I will let you know what your chances are.
Take care.
@all: you all know that I always stand up for Dubai/Abu Dhabi and the entire UAE – but thanks to some foreign groups specialized on human trafficing, these things happen and can’t be denied. Dubai police does it’s best and is doing a great job, but………do not deny what exist. Why do you think a certain Nationality has difficulties to obtain a visa to Saudi? Because these people are known for crimes like this.
@Mahesh: the biggest “meat market” in the ME is Israel.

I second H’s answer. Well said H….
Asker, nobody can “force” you as all of that is against the law . And unfortunately most of the women who fall victims to such activities do so because of ignorance of local laws and they are being told such and such will happen to you by these “arabs” if you go tell the police etc, so because of that and being afraid of deportation (hence most of them have expired visas) they keep quiet after being taken advantage of or God forbid being hooked on some kind of addictive drug and they do it to get their “fix” if you know what I mean. In reality the police is interested in catching these people but they can’t do so unless some one comes forward and talks.Or they should at least consult their country embassy, which can assist them with local authorities to break up those rings. Recently a brave Chinese woman was told by a man from her country in Dubai to pay him a large amount of money or he will do horrible things to her , she went to the police and the guy was arrested and jailed , turned out he was criminal in China too. Now she can have a normal life without jerks like that.
