   In France we’re talking about re-opening whore houses. I think it’s better, there’s always going to be prostitution so we may as well legalize it for hygiene and security.

    I don’t have anything against legal prostitution – if it’s voluntary. But “having to do this because there is no other option” is not a positive thing.

    The profession has it’s dangers, including STDs and threats of violence. Legalizing would allow them to freely seek help from authorities in for example, the case of a violent customer. Though “pimping” should remain illegal. I see no good reason to have some douchebag take any of their earnings…

    As George Carlin once said “Selling is legal, fucking is legal, so why isn’t selling fucking legal.” It makes no sense to make it illegal to sell something that it is perfectly legal to give away for free. Plus keeping it illegal protects pimps and other women abusers ability to victimize these women. Many serial killers have targeted prostitutes because they are on the street instead of in a brothel, it also helps to spread disease because now there is no testing or monitoring system.

    I think it was george carlin with his goofy accent that say once “if selling is legal and sex is legal, how come prostitution is ilegal?”

    For me two adult having paid sex is not the problem per se, the problem is wich choice minimize woman traffic, sex transmited disasaes, forced prostitution, etc.

    I’m not in favour of prostitution in the scenario that this caller described. It seems almost like forced prostitution out of desperate circumstances. Honestly, would you have sex with a woman who was just doing it to get money to feed her kids? Wouldn’t you just GIVE her the money??

    However, if a woman wants to be a prostitute just because she likes the job, then I have no problem with it.
