Obama on Legalizing Pot, Prostitution to ‘Stimulate’ Economy

December 4, 2009 — Oh, those crazy college kids. Crazy…or brilliant? Following Obama’s speech Friday at Lehigh Unversity, a student suggested the president consider some unconventional tactics to help “stimulate” the economy. Obama commended the student for his “boldness,” but said that it “will not be my jobs strategy.”

Prostitution? Uhmm I have no opinion on that. People should be able to do it if they want to. Not much wrong with it, unless they are being forced into it.
People should note that had this been the previous president, our good student there would probably had been arrested or mocked. Sure Obama didn’t answer the question, aside from his ‘not my plan’ remark, but look at this for what it was, an American President talking to a citizen. Nothing more, nothing less, well, nothing unless you are a conspiracy ‘enthusiast’.

What a shitty response. Why can’t he elaborate on why he isn’t considering to legalize at least marijuana and prostitution? He mocks the student as questioning “Wisdom” when he himself cannot elaborate on even minor reasons of why he believes it’s a bad idea.
Why is prostitution crossing the line? They have it in places like Las Vegas and Amsterdam and it doesn’t seem to be a problem for the girls or the state. It might be behavior that you don’t like personally, but what’s really wrong with it?

“Girls are always going to go into prostitution”?!?!?!!? Do you know how offensive that statement is?! Most prostitutes in this country and throughout the world are forced into prostitution because of their socioeconomic position. Many children in poorer countries are forced into prostitution because they are poor.
What are you asking? Why pot? Or why is prostitution crossing the line?

Decriminalization SHOULD be an acceptable compromise. Believe many people would oppose legalization of anything now illegal on the grounds that it would just move everything that’s considered worse up a notch. “Slippery slope” and all that, doncha know.
