Actually, most women in the sex trade don’t work on the streets. They operate from an apartment, or a massage parlour, and they advertise in the papers, on the internet, and personal business cards.
The ones that are found on street corners are either drug addicts, or so old/ugly that they can’t compete anywhere else.
There are a couple of areas that do have some “girls” that are really males, in women’s clothing.
The act of having sex for money is not illegal in Canada. What is illegal is ” communicating for the pourpose of prostitution “. So you can do it, you just can’t talk about doing it , or the price, or the type of sex act that you may do with a prostitute , male or female.
I have no idea what the members of our Parliament were thinking when they wrote that part of the Criminal Code……. But it is still the law, in all parts of Canada.
