Amsterdam on a budget – Recommendations for cheap eats and the best coffee shops? ?

I am going Amsterdam on a tight budget and am looking for the best coffee shops and am also looking for commentary on the best places for pretty cheap eats (as long as the place isn’t super grimy). I will be staying very close to the red light district.
