amsterdam you mean?
I don’t know…Ludacris is always talking about the “red light district” in his songs. I guess they have one in “A Town” too. The town where hookers run aplenty.
*My husband kept telling me we should go to Amsterdam…hmm…guess I know why! Ha ha. No, he said that they have like “stores” and the hookers are on display in the windows….YUCK.
They exist all over, including pretty much every city in the U.S.
The term basically refers to any place hookers congregate en masse.

they exist everywhere even here in singapore..its whether the country make it legal or not..even if its not..they will still be some of these activities
prostitutes have a red light on outside of their house/brothel back in the day to tell customers where the prostitutes where and if they were ready for buisness, red light districts are usual classed as being bad and dirty suberbs

Red-light district is the term used for the part of any city where prostitution/strip clubs etc are located. They tend to congregate in the one area.
The phrase first arose in America in the late 1800’s, when trains would stop at a town, and the railway workers would leave their lanterns outside the brothels while they were “busy” inside.
So, they exist in every country, it just depends if they are called “red-light districts”.
To BlueKiwi, when I was in Amsterdam in 1991, they wore their lingerie in the windows as they knitted or read a book. I never saw one naked. I doubt things would have changed much since then, really.
There is a red light district in every major city in the world where women sell themselves for sex. (Men too in certain ones).
Whilst the sex industry is rarely to be found on the streets, small ads in newspapers or phone boxes and especially the internet ensure that the trade continues.
You can almost guarantee that there is a brothel or a working woman within 5 miles of you, if you know where to look.
well since every1 already explained what it is im going to add an interesting story they say that the prostitutes in amsterdam stand naked in front their windows while they brush their hair
