Wouldn’t a legalized and regulated prostitution industry give us a new source of tax money?

I frankly believe that prostitution should be legal throughout the US. The arguement that the women have no choice and are being abused can be applied to other sex jobs that are perfectly legal. The arguement that it is morally sinful is unable to explain why without entering religious grounds. The argument that it is sexist is simply retarded.
If we legalize prostitution, we can regulate it. If we can regulate it, we can enforce the screening for STDs. If we can do that, then we can reduce the medical problems associated with prostitution.
Also, if we legalize Prostitution, we can tax it. More revenue for schools, roads, etc.
You’re right!!! And if we legalize kiddie porn we can get tons of government cash!
Awesome!
The bodies and minds of our women and youth can be harvested to fund programs for the greater good! It’s patriotic!
How do you regulate street walkers…
This is one of the most naive things I’ve ever heard.
Just like regulating pot.
You can grow it in your back yard f it were legal, then where would the tax money be,,
These are all lame arguements for bebasing the country.
Bawney Fwank is the expert on this subject. What does he say?
Yes just ask the people of Nevada. Adults should be free to do as they please with their own bodies.
I agree with you, mostly because it would provide protection for the women who choose to earn a living that way. It would put pimps out of business, and, yes, it would generate tax revenue, which is probably the only argument that would carry any weight with the hypocrites in government.
Edit: Kiddie porn is entirely different. Children are minors; they cannot “choose” to do that, and they are being exploited. I’m a feminist, and I don’t see why a woman couldn’t choose to be a prostitute, as long as it’s her choice. She’s providing a service, one that pays more than, say, cleaning hotel rooms, although apparently that would be OK with you.
There’s a huge difference between a pedophile and a healthy adult male who wants to pay for sex.
Good analogy to marijuana. I’ve been trying to think of one.
.yeah not to mention keep the ones that still do it safe kinda like abortion the jails are overcrowded enough
Not to be hardup
No, all the bureaucracy it would cause would actually cost us money.
If you want to smoke weed or bang a sl*t just DO it. Why does it have to be legal?
Some people don’t want to see commercials for hookers and drugs while their kids are watching tv. The ones for tampons and herpes medicine are gross enough.
And a lot more smiles.
I’d legalize reefer also and tax it instead of spending billions in the court system.
Crime and prostitution, even legal prostitution, go hand in hand. I can’t see any benefit in it — unless you WANT more crime. A few more tax dollars for the government to misspend isn’t worth more crime to me.
Just to educate you a bit…all of the states who legalized gambling did so by rationalizing to their citizenry that the schools would get more money. In almost every case, the schools get progressively LESS and LESS of a percentage of money every year. Most areas have ended up putting this money into a general fund instead after very few years. That way, politicians can use it for their OWN purposes.
In other words, don’t buy into the lies. This won’t help schools or education.
i must agree.. however
“The arguement that it is morally sinful is unable to explain why without entering religious grounds.”
shouldn’t we argue gay marriage first before legalized prostitution..
The problems within our economy cannot be fixed by the sums of money legal Prostitution would generate in taxes from those who would even bother to pay them and any taxes collected would simply be used to fund the disastrous Social programs we have, continuing the cycle of bad government.
Therefore there is no rational reason to embrace such a destructive vocation.
It’s not working too well for Nevada’s economy.
The U.S. porn industry is pretty well self regulated. STD’s are recorded by the major studios. One of the few U.S. industries that can be trusted to police themselves.
Hence a lot of “Mike in Brazil” dvd’s are running around.
DVD’s are taxable already. Unless you’re talking about a Federal tax. But even then studio revenue is already taxed.
i just wonder where the tax stamp will go
Right! Do you actually believe that a prostitute would claim earned money and TIPS so she could pay taxes on it Theyy ain’t going to let the governmentt take taxes them out of their asss the taxes that were collected wouln’t amont to shet and it would cost money to regulate. Right how many people and illegals getting cash are out there just waiting to pay their fair share because the feel they owe the government and are cheating.
